Job Description

Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consulting firm delivering innovative solutions across mining, hydropower, infrastructure, transportation, environmental, and water resources projects around the world. They are known for tackling complex technical challenges and providing expertise from project conception through to closure.


What They Need:


They are seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their western Canadian team and play a key role in the design, assessment, and monitoring of water and tailings dam projects. This is an opportunity for an experienced professional who thrives on technical excellence, client engagement, and project leadership in the mining and infrastructure sectors.


What You'll Do:


  • Lead and manage geotechnical projects from concept through construction, commissioning, and operations.

  • Design and assess tailings dams, mine waste facilities, containment structures, and other mine infrastructure.

  • Prepare and review technical specifications, drawings, design reports, studies, feasibility assessments, and tender packages.

  • Develop practical, defensible engineering solutions for complex geotechnical challenges.

  • Work directly with clients, review panels, and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Contribute to business development efforts and help grow long-term client relationships.

  • Conduct site visits, inspections, audits, and project-related travel across Canada and internationally.

What You'll Bring:


  • Professional Engineer designation in Canada, or eligibility to obtain registration.

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of experience, or a Master's/PhD with 8+ years of experience in Civil Engineering,

  • Geotechnical Engineering, Soil Mechanics, or Engineering Geology.

  • Strong expertise in geotechnical design and analysis, particularly related to dams, embankments, and slopes.

  • Experience with geotechnical software, CPTu interpretation, laboratory testing, and/or tailings facility design.

  • Additional expertise in numerical modelling, critical state theory, and/or seismic hazard analysis is considered valuable.

  • Proven leadership, project management, mentoring, and decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proposal and technical report writing.

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to build and maintain lasting client relationships.
